::  DDD conference has been an amazing experience. A motivating mix of old friends, new faces, exciting discussions, insightful presentations and Dutch food. Looking forward to my ASDS membership!

:: On September 12, as part of the 10th DDD conference in Nijmegen, we will have a panel discussion moderated by Professor Tony Walter "Comparing European Ways"; it will be held in De Vereeniging concert hall, 9 am. Later that day, I will also have my individual contribution concerning the sacred death under secular circumstances. Same place, venue 4.

09/09/2011 :The collective volume on contemporary death and dying has been printed and the flyer looks great. On the shelves in October. Everyone did a great job!

:: The art show in Århus at Gallery Florence is actually open for visit until AUGUST 31. The vernissage was superb, Danish press was unexpectedly favorable AND intrigued, the most expensive painting sold from Day 2 and well, I guess you'll miss it when it's gone...

20/05/2010 ::  Le XIVème Congrès International d'Études sur les Danses Macabres et l'Art Macabre en général is happening this year in the loveliest city we have around: Sibiu. I'll give my speech on Friday, May 21.

::  The New York based gallery I mentioned last year renewed the offer. They are willing to show my art  under better financial conditions. But I can hardly keep up with painting for this summer's exhibition in Århus!!... In my world, Denmark always comes first.

::  New book on death and dying waiting to be published. Although - they say - the book is scholarly in nature, it is as atypical as it gets. Waiting patiently for the financial difficulties of the publishing business to be solved...

::  Phonecall from a 90 year old member of the Romanian Academy. He read my book from 2006, liked it a lot, and now wants me to write a book with him. We discussed the matter over coffee and cookies in a prewar cozy milieu.

20/12/2010  :: A study on death and secular sacred is being translated into German as I type this. Will come out early next year in German publication called Gnostika.

::   Art exhibition in Århus (Denmark)  set for July 2010 at Gallery Florence. Go there in the summer and meet my bucks, they don't bite! (If you wonder what happened with the NYC art show I can only tell you it got canceled for financial reasons.)

11/01/2007 :: Riksbankens Jubileumsfond (The Bank of Sweden Tercentenary Foundation) has approved the money (well, at least a part of it) for helping the Swedish research network concerned with death and dying to develop a two-year project  Rutiner, Riter och minnesarbete ( forskarnätverk för humanistisk och samhällsvetenskaplig forskning om döende, död, begravning och sorg). Eva Reimers (Linköpings universitet) has applied for the whole team. Fortunatelly, I am part of the team. Unfortunatelly, I am still unsure whether I will be  participating in the whole thing.

My lecture is called "Att klara av att vara dödlig i vår tid"  ( "Coping with a Mortal Destiny in Modernity" ) at Regionsmuseet Kristianstad, during the  series of lectures TRO MÖTER TRO, Kristianstad (Sweden), 27 February.
